Welcome to Curi-Cancha, a piece of paradise in Monteverde!
In 1970, the Lowther family acquired this beautiful property and named it Curi-Cancha, a name that evokes the “Golden Enclosure” of the Incas. In 1997, the property was officially designated as a Wildlife Refuge, and in 2011, Curi-Cancha Reserve opened its doors to tourists in its current form.
Curi-Cancha is a true paradise for birdwatching enthusiasts. Here, more than 200 species of birds have made their home. Additionally, you can spot a variety of mammals, including armadillos, coatis, agoutis, kinkajous, ocelots, two-toed sloths, and three species of monkeys: mantled howler monkeys, white-faced capuchin monkeys, and spider monkeys.
Our main goal is to protect the flora and fauna of this place while providing our visitors with high-quality and environmentally responsible service.
Our tour begins at the lower part of a private estate, where you can explore natural trails that take you through a variety of habitats. This will give you the opportunity to observe birds and mammals in areas of secondary and primary forest. All of this takes place in an area adjacent to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, which includes the Pre-Montane Humid Forest at the start of the tour and the Montane Humid Forest in a part of the journey. These specific types of forests are favored by various species of birds and mammals, making your observation experience truly exciting.

· Any cancellation request made 48 hours before the service date will be 100% refundable.
· Any cancellation request made less than 48 hours before the service date will incur a 50% penalty.
